What is planning permission?
· Planning consent relates to changes in the appearance or use of buildings. An example would be the extension of a house or loft conversion
· Planning permission should not be confused with the building regulations
· Planning applications are handled by planning officers within the department of local govt and the environment planning section
· It is usual for planning applications to take approx 8 week
Making a planning application
· 4 copies of your proposed development must be submitted together with the relevant fee
· Plans will include locations plan (1/1250), site plan (1/500) along with floor plans and elevations depicting the building
Permitted Development
· For some small extensions and alterations your scheme may come under the Permitted Development’ rights which could mean that planning permission will not be necessary in some cases. For more detailed information you should consult the www.gov.im/dlge
